Unfortunately, most widely used PR techniques such as the third-party technique are clearly unethical as are most PR firms clients. I pray that more people will come to understand the importance of your book and comments here. Many people fight for good causes only to lose because they fail to understand that PR knows how to convince the American public of almost anything, whether it is health reform, companies illegally selling dangerous, poisioness and addictive products or financial institutions "taxing" Americans with their trickery. Until people understand what Wendell Potter is telling them, I fear many good causes will continue to lose.

the writer suggests that the decline in media has been hastened by corporate pr departments not complying politely with media requests. i suggest the media consider behaving like polite adults instead of mobbing subjects and that the media ask questions more relevant to the story than those which simply appeal to no more than the reptile portion of the reader/viewers brain. the writer suggests that others should refrain from personal attacks on journalists. i suggest the author deal forthrightly with his hypocracy. the decline in media is primarily a function of relevance, secondarily the product of smug and condescending treatment adopted around the same time as the birth of the so-called 'media circus' and, finally, media's betrayal of the reasoning behind affording it first amendment protections in the first place, namely the preservation, protection and promotion of a plurality of thought and NOT the unanimity of thought we were subjected to under the king or are being subjected to today by fox and the lame stream media. it doesn't help that media's willingness to seek and deliver the truth is declining as fast as media's willingness to lazily churn out endless specu-babble-inion is skyrocketing. this is our time of bread and circuses. unlike the roman's, however, we have this magnificent gift of free speech which was not available to save that society in any comparable measure as ours. If media can take an honest, objective and courageously hard look in the mirror, we may yet be able to get business, government and citizens to take the honest, objective and courageously hard look in the mirror necessary in order to survive this self-serving, self-satisfied, self-absorbed, self-absolved septic tank we are about to drown in.
