I understand the desire to be optimistic, but what agenda really "stopped" by winning "control" of a Senate that will not meet until after the next election? Stressing such a "victory" is pretty childish - given that it was one race out of four and has exactly zero effect - save for a little bit of self-delusion. Progress is not made by hiding from bad news...
You guys are awesome and correct 99.999% of the time however, the amount of money paid to the tax man by smokers is already a lot, in fact it truly represents "taxation without representation". It may not be cool any longer but we pay extra to do it and we cannot do it anywhere. Drinkers can drink in many places and they do pay a "tax" to do so, why don't we raise their taxes? They cause at least as much physical damage to their bodies and they also cause an extraordinarily enormous amount of "collateral", visible and immediate damage and danger to those around them via accidents, murder etc. And whether popular or not, the tobacco industry employs a large population, so??????

true the vote used doctored photographs, empty accusations, exxagerations and flat out lies to whip up hysteria about supposed voter fraud. the article disproves numerous claims made by true the vote, and points out that members of that organization have intimidated voters and disrupted clean uncorrupted elections with their antics
its arguable that having a recall at all was a dumb idea, but thats not the topic of this article. and maybe there were out-of-state groups campaigning for the walker recall. if thats the case, show some evidence. all i've ever read or seen videos of is people with thick wisconsin accents occupying the state house while walker has been crisscrossing the country campaigning to keep his job as governor of wisconsin. walker collected so much more money than barrett that he felt it was safe to put 150K into a legal defense fund.

californians are not always stupid. This has been a nice exercise of separating $47 mil from those who couldn't find a constructive use for it and giving it to california creatives and media who win no matter who loses.
an initiative to tax the living hell out of oil producers, banks and churches ought to bring boatloads of dough from those who don't know how to check their tire pressure or sharpen a knife.
I shudder to think how long it will take to expose the next secret lobby group that these big corporations are quietly shifting their support to now that ALEC has been exposed.
