Anonymous? I, too, am a member of the "those who just can't quit" club, But I disagree with your opinion on the matter. You and I, and millions of others are going to Hell in our own way. What is important is that these substitutes NOT be on the market, because the enticement for kids to use these products are already being slyly marketed to young non-smoking and those already smoking alike. We are already done for, but everything possible MUST be done to limit tobacco products availability to the younger, PERIOD! John Cheney 88

This article opens with the line, "Monsanto and friends." Who are their friends. This is really old news, rehashed. I remember well a demonstration done by a Monsanto employee when they first released "Monsanto's bestselling herbicide Roundup." The man said, "It is so safe one can drink it," and then proceeded to drink a shot glass of the full concentrate. I wonder if he is still kicking. As to Monsanto's friends the IMF comes to mind. Did I really read an article, some months back, where Monsanto and the IMF teamed up with thousands of corn farmers in northern India to grow their GE corn? A sales job, money from the IMF who gets their funds from whom? The farmers attempted to grow this "new and improved" GE corn seed. Did I really read this both in English and in Hindi? "Two thousand corn farmers in northern India suicide over crop failure." If I recall correctly Monsanto and their friend, the IMF, failed to mention to the maze growers that the new GE seed needed four times the standard amount of water,(irrigation). Did I really read this? Do different cultures react differently to failure and or success?

I am still unable to find out how much I will need to donate to Romney in order to be appointed as our ambassador to the "Court of Saint James," when he becomes our next president. Italy would be my second choice.

Your criticism is very evenhanded. That Stockman blames the "Repubs just mostly" seems enough for me (coming from a Republican insider). I would make the same comment and draw the same conclusion from John W. Dean's "Broken Government". It is the Republicans "just mostly." The span of history gives you a thread of sustained truth. It IS the Republicans just mostly.
