Oh, what a difference a year makes!

Funny how reality has managed to elude the author of this article; that most of that "50 year old well-established fact" was revealed in DEC 2009 to be the result of flawed and deliberately manipulated data. Data which has since conveniently disappeared.

While there is enough empirical evidence that the climate has been warming for the last 18,000 years, these climate changes were happening long before the Industrial Age, incandescent light bulbs, CFCs and ocean dumping by humans.

Guess humans are going to have to learn to live in a world that constantly has temperature changes that they (humans) have done NOTHING to induce, and cannot control.

On the bright side, maybe we should tell those global-warming-preaching celebrities they need give up those homes so close to the beach...the ocean is rising!

It should reach to the hearts of smokers better with the campaign approach. They don't feel like it is ads, so they are likely to trust and follow the tips. And.. the most important thing is that Pfizer delivers the right and reliable information. The company is also doing the social responsibility this way. Good point!

I'm really very excited and I've got a few words for you: You can change that. I sent a letter to the Government Accountability Office requesting an investigation, and I'd like you to show your support by virtually “co-signing” the letter with me. Only with an overwhelming display of grassroots energy can we put this story in the spotlight and press for answers. The Pentagon quickly issued a statement that they’ve ended the program, but I still believe that we need to have a complete accounting of exactly what was happening, who was involved, and what it accomplished. I don’t think that’s too much to ask -- do you?

Media Matters does a great job. They always go out of their way to make sure everything is in context. I have found people Like Bill Oreilly and others that denounce it have yet to demonstrate any actual evidence of slanting their reports. On the other hand Politifact (fact checker site) constistantly rates Bill's comments as false more often the true.
the sad reality os no matter what you say these people will claim liberal bias or simply use name calling as their argument with no actual support. they are not intersted in hearing anything that contradicts their beliefs.

  • Reply to: Poll Finds Fox News Viewers Significantly Misinformed   14 years 6 months ago

Pulled from p. 20 of the report itself:

"Those who watched Fox News almost daily were significantly more likely than those who never watched it to believe that:

    - most economists estimate the stimulus caused job losses (12 points more likely)
    - most economists have estimated the health care law will worsen the deficit (31 points)
    - the economy is getting worse (26 points)
    - most scientists do not agree that climate change is occurring (30 points)
    - the stimulus legislation did not include any tax cuts (14 points)
    - their own income taxes have gone up (14 points)
    - the auto bailout only occurred under Obama (13 points)
    - when TARP came up for a vote most Republicans opposed it (12 points)
    - and that it is not clear that Obama was born in the United States (31 points)

These effects increased incrementally with increasing levels of exposure and all were statistically significant. The effect was also not simply a function of partisan bias, as people who voted Democratic and watched Fox News were also more likely to have such misinformation than those who did not watch it--though by a lesser margin than those who voted Republican."
