Media Matters uncovered another internal email sent out by Fox News' Washington, D.C. Managing Editor Bill Sammon which ordered Fox Network journalists to slant coverage of the climate change issue by "refrain[ing] from asserting that the planet has warmed (or cooled) in any given period without IMMEDIATELY pointing out such theories are based upon data that critics have called into question." The memo is inflammatory because the increase in global annual average temperatures over the last 50 years is a well-established fact.
The National Climatic Data Center (part of the U.S. Department of Commerce) says "The warming trend that is apparent in all of the independent methods of calculating global temperature change is also confirmed by other independent observations, such as the melting of mountain glaciers on every continent, reductions in the extent of snow cover, earlier blooming of plants in spring, a shorter ice season on lakes and rivers, ocean heat content, reduced arctic sea ice, and rising sea levels." Media Matters also recently revealed an internal Fox News email in which Sammon ordered network journalists to stop using the phrase "public option" in favor of a term cooked up by prominent Republican pollster Frank Luntz, who was helping Republicans turn public opinion against health care reform. Exposure of the two emails has led the Los Angeles Times to print a rare rebuke of another mainstream news organization in an editorial saying that Fox News needs to either "come clean" about the partisanship within its newsrooms, or "stop pretending to be an objective news source."

Oh, what a difference a year
Oh, what a difference a year makes!
Funny how reality has managed to elude the author of this article; that most of that "50 year old well-established fact" was revealed in DEC 2009 to be the result of flawed and deliberately manipulated data. Data which has since conveniently disappeared.
While there is enough empirical evidence that the climate has been warming for the last 18,000 years, these climate changes were happening long before the Industrial Age, incandescent light bulbs, CFCs and ocean dumping by humans.
Guess humans are going to have to learn to live in a world that constantly has temperature changes that they (humans) have done NOTHING to induce, and cannot control.
On the bright side, maybe we should tell those global-warming-preaching celebrities they need give up those homes so close to the beach...the ocean is rising!

the most powerful person in the world?
Back in the summer of 2000, when I was in the north of Spain, I met some fellow college professors from England, and we compared the election process in our two countries. I complained that the U.S. Supreme Court decision (Gore v Bush)was blatantly unconstitutional and that some in the media had a hand in misleading the public. They offered a similar story in that when Rupert Murdock's media empire finally endorsed Tony Blair for PM- he won the election.
I would love to see, and hear Rupert Murdock explain his worldview to Jon Stewart on the Daily Show!
