The US Army is tasked by this country - not by itself - with recruiting and maintaining a standing force of a particular size. We now see that standing force is not nearly large enough, and we've had to turn to the Guard and Reserves to fill out the force. As a result we have Pizza Hut managers guarding terrorists, and dry cleaners manning 50 caliber guns atop APCs.

The Army has no choice but to go out and recruit, in any way it can. Until this administration stops sending the Army in harm's way on fool's errands (such as driving around Baghdad and serving as targets for roadside bombers) they have to keep on recruiting at a manic pace.

If you feel so strongly, express your displeasure with the clowns in Washington (including this do-nothing Congress) who are sending our young people over there to die. Don't blame the Army for doing what it must to fulfill its mission. And don't forget that our military takes its orders from civilans. General Taguba certainly learned that lesson, didn't he?

I came across a great contest for non-profit business professionals at www.svn.org/imaginewhatsnext . They are holding a contest to reward business leaders for starting or running socially responsible companies. This seems to be a growing trend!

What difference does it make to BigPharma what the side effects are? They can count them under obesity, just like the damages caused by fen-phen, weight loss surgery, and the hundreds of other risky weight loss practices including the tape worm "cure" of previous decades. (Weight obsession is not new, it has been with us since at least 1920.) Then again, if people are dumb enough to buy into it, I give up. Sell your souls and ruin your bodies if it is worth it to you! I have read that the side effects of this drug can be so severe accidents can happen before one even knows it. We ALL need to start looking before we sit down in public! As if we didn't have enough to worry about!

A politician is a politician! But Hillary seems even more prone to do anything it takes to get elected. Personally,I think Obama President/Edwards V.P would be as good a ticket as we are going to get with this crop. p.s. Can anyone verify whether or not Richardson really made a speech at Bohemian Grove? While Alex Jones is entertaining at times, I would hardly believe what he says without other verification.

As much as I think rabid animal rights groups are counterproductive, I was forced to watch a video on factory meat farming as part of a student report. (I never grade my students based on my own personal values.) What I was struck by was how the animals were given growth hormones to the point they couldn't support their own weight. How could all these hormones NOT affect our endocrine systems??? There are also studies that have found even endocrine disruptors in the environment are making kids fatter. I think it is terrible that the American Medical Association is basically calling for ultra intrusive interventions for all kids, especially fat ones. (Repeating the cycle of weight obsession that will lead to even more eating disorders.) Yet, no one is doing anything to address the real causes! I believe some people are naturally meant to be fat, but I also believe environmental stresses are creating havoc with other kids metabolisms. The issue isn't as simple as not eating fast food if the lean, home cooked crap they are eating is still full of hormones. The AMA and the Robert Woods Johnson Foundation are part of the problem, not the solution. Quite honestly, so is the single minded obsession with McDonald's and lifestyle in general. Stop the cause, not just force kids to obsess over the symptoms!!!! If I had kids, and I thank God I don't, I wouldn't worry so much about calories and BMI as I would making sure they ate organic.
