The piece was initiated because the Ohio education department had just released of the substantially revised "failing" and "high achieving" charter school numbers.
Hello, I though you should know that America is not a democracy. Namely for the fact that in a democracy whenever a law is made, every citizen has to vote on whether or not the law is passed, regardless of the time or day. We don't do that. Secondly, under such a government, the majority always rule and the minorities are always subverted and suppressed. So, based on this information, why would you ever want democracy to expand? Wouldn't you want democracy to be abolished because of its treatment to minorities? Just a thought.
You hit the nail on the head. i have never seen our country be more divided than it is today. My father was a big Reagan fan and I always abhorred Reagan because I could see him for what he was; a tool for the elitists. Whenever someone takes issue with such a large scale invasion of our democracy, they quickly attempt to demonize the left. While there are dozens of think tanks, ALEC, Mackinac Center for Public Policy, The Heritage Foundation, etc., they bring up Soros and Bloomberg as if the left had near the capital that the Kochs, Walmart Clan, Scamway Fortune, etc. has. I live in a State similar to Wisconsin and see how Walkers policies have devastated the state. Minnesota is thriving by taking the opposite stance of tax cuts on the rich and austerity for the rest of us. The right will be out in full force to defend their presidential candidate, for the mere sake of making sure the Supreme Court remains in corporation's pockets. Our country is screwed.
Wow. I have recognized and written about my own frustrations with charters, magnet schools, choice schools and vouchers, but did not clearly see all of the historical connections. Your clarification of this subject is extremely helpful.
