For an article about funding, it only quoted 1 payment to them in 2010 to sponsor their annual conference, not an uncommon practice for companies who are participating in a conference. Beleive me, if there was any ongoing financial support this guy would have put it in the article. I don't call this "bankrolling"...the financial issue was the most minor part of this article but they love to draw you in with lies and exageration! He mentioned many policies that were sposored by ALEC that strongly influenced legislation affecting insurance...don't you want your insurance company there to be a voice for you? Of course he took each piece of legislation that benefitted the consumer by lowering costs and masterfully crafted it into a negative to fit the agenda of his article.

Attitudes such as yours are why nothing gets done concerning organizations such as this. ALL things can be accomplished and even huge corporations can be taken down by the boycott system. Yes, there are many Fortune 500 corporations listed as members of ALEC. But taken on one-by-one by the membership of all the unions, they could very likely face ruin. Boycott is a huge motivator. Especially in a tough economy. I would like to ask a question? Do you get upset about the economy and our leadership and then choose not to vote?

I've had State Farm for over 35 yrs, car and house. Until recently I was unaware of how deep this ALEC crap runs! I will forward this article to mt local agent and consider other insurancers. You, Tedoic, are are similar to a rattlesnake seeing his own tail and biting it!

No, we will not destroy the economy because another insurance company will be getting our business. I haven't purchased a Johnsonville product for over a year now but I'm still buying brats. That's how the free market works. If a product is bad we don't buy it. If a company is supporting legislation that I find immoral they won't get my business. Today I found an insurance company that isn't an ALEC member and I'm canceling my State Farm policies and switching.
