Seems that ignorance sometimes speak louder that common sense and knowledge, voter ID laws is to protect ALL the citizens from corruption, is obvious that most of you drink the kool-aid that the media is providing for you to your lack of understanding and thinking is limited. Voter ID do not go against minorities, except if minorities you call anyone who's illegal. The government of each state provide for those that can't afford to paid for it, a State ID so they can vote, the reason they don't want this to be law, is not because people is been refuse their right, but because they want to take your right away, of "one person one vote" you see, today if anyone go to some voting places, they can ask to give "your form" to vote for, and they will vote under your name, "stealing" from you "your right of vote" if they have in ID, they can't steal your right to vote. Sometimes even for those that seems to be hard to think, common sense should tell them, that if you go to school, a game, travel, buy a car, get a phone or anything else, YOU HAVE TO SHOW YOUR ID... when someone is asking you to trust them with YOUR life and the future of YOUR children if you have some, it's more important than a phone or go to a game... why should not be mandatory to ask for the ID, only illegals can't vote, everyone else can. You all need to stop allow the liberal/progressives to dictate your thought process, because they make of you and those that believe in their lies, slaves and puppets to use in their favor when they want to bring riots, crisis and divisions... this IS YOUR COUNTRY and you should always defend your rights, YOUR RIGHTS...!!! it's not about minorities, is about control and power, and you are being use... wake up!!!

Koch-funded Americans for Prosperity (AFP) has jumped in to the rescue! ALEC has been demonized because......they ARE demons. ALEC is reaching out its tentacles to its right-wing reptiles. Oh boo hoo hoo. The poor Kochtopi. I believe Mr. Fischer is being kind in saying that ..."it seems unlikely that the Tea Partiers sending AFP's pro-ALEC email really know much about the group they are supporting." The Tea Partiers have their heads buried you know where. They don't know that they are being wanked by the K Bros.

Thanks for posting this, and your previous comment. It's helpful for all those in the Occupy movement who are too young to know what's really going on, to understand how it all works. Nobody knows better than you how the organizations you mentioned (and many more) make money out of the faux democratic process. They rely on it for their living and they'll do anything to ensure the propaganda is channeled towards keeping the status quo intact. The Counterpunch piece is excellent.

WOW!!! The corporate attempt to take over and control our democracy has been going on for the past 10 years and perhaps longer! This is absolutely shocking and a Call to Arms (only using this as a metaphor!) for this nation to stand up against the Corporations running our govt.!

It's so nice of you to give this corporation the benefit of the doubt in assuming its role is limited to a one-time donation, merely because its recent sponsorship was cited as an example. But, State Farm has been aiding ALEC for well over a decade. For example, I am going to upload a screenshot of one of the brochures from the 1990s that lists State Farm as a major donor, alongside Koch Industries. And, State Farm's activities in ALEC help fund efforts that make it more difficult for you to sue if your loved one is killed by a dangerous product, more difficult for cities to pass laws to protect families from industrial hazards, and more difficult to pay for good schools for our children. State Farm already has plenty of "voice" in lawmaking but through ALEC it actually gets a "vote" as an equal to elected officials on model legislation to change your rights. The fact that you find nothing wrong with that makes me wonder if you have any notion that democracy is supposed to look like or if the lies you love from watching FOX satisfy all your needs. Lisa
