    CCA
I am so blown away by this article that my head is still doing a 360. If the CCA has its tentacles in 20 states, I can already see the US Gulag slowly and steadily creeping into all states where ALEC is writing the laws. I have to reread this article a few more times, but it is very depressing. However, it is a good thing to expose what is happening, and I hope we see more and greater numbers of the public recoiling from it, as they are from ALEC. Hooray for you, CMD, Mr. Hodai, and all your wonderful writers.

I was thinking the same thing myself. A few issues come to mind... so the principal decided to send out the engraved invite to the party to LE. Fine... he also admits he had no specific information to indicate there was a drug problem at the school. And only three arrests, two for insanely minuscule quantities, proves that. I would think a solid case can be made for an unlawful search. I doubt a warrant was obtained, on representation or oath, naming specifically the items to be found and where they were to be searched out. Fourth Ammendment would weigh in here. Second, the unlawful use of the prison guards and their dogs should also throw the whole case out. The search was not even conducted by LEO, byt for profit individuals with an obvious conflict of interest. Third, these microscopic amounts could easily, as pointed out in another comment, have fallen from an Officer's pocket or shoe, or even from the bag or clothing of another student before they were herded out of the classroom.. or even while they were leaving. The FACT that non-LEO personnel were utilised in the illegal search could easily be made a credibility issue in the courtroom. WHO found the contraband, where was it located, etc. If I lived in that area, with school aged kids or not, I'd be hot, and seeking a redress. Time these guys quit their thuggery, control freaking tyranny and let the kids continue with what little education they'll get at the gubmunt skewl. The background information on the privatised prison industry and their involvement in lobbying for sweetheart legislation bringing them even MORE business is more than chilling. WHAT are we coming to? Don't answer that....... its obvious.

I am a poll worker in Milwaukee, and have been working the same ward for five years. We have a good crew and we know our jobs, and we handle the chore of same-day registration with efficiency and thoroughness. As with so many other things, Walker is full of crap on this. The ward in which I work may well be the most heavily Democratic in Gwen Moore's district, which is the most blue district in the state (74% Democratic). Of approximately 2,500 registered voters, in the last five years I have yet to see any Republican candidate take more than 164 votes (most elections it's under 100). Each election, our same-day registrants total in the hundreds; during the summer recall, one of our heaviest turnouts, the numbers reached over 500 - that's 38 an hour. There is no way that such a volume of applications can be processed by people who are either too overwhelmed or too incompetent to handle the task. The Milwaukee Election Commission will not let us work unless we attend regular training sessions to keep up with changes in procedure and the law. I heard Walker refer to the typical poll worker as "retired and elderly". What a surprise - he's actually trying to feign compassion for feeble old people (when he has no compassion for anyone). For this past presidential election, yes, some of our workers were retirees, but we also had a group of college students who participating in the election as part of a service program.

Doesn't surprise me that Walker wants to fix voter registration. It seems every country that ever had elections eventually fixed them. It appears that if you cannot beat them, fix the elections.
