Wow! All of this discussion, proposals, studies and political spin on such a simple issue as a border. Most grade schoolers(below 14)could tell you how to shut it down. Patrol it via US army, build a fence. Done. Same as Mexico does with its southern border, and the rest of the world. How sad and pathetic we have become..

Ice cream containers also have been shrinking... has anyone tried to buy a traditional "half gallon" of ice cream lately? Not possible!

  • Reply to: Lobbying and PR Firms Converge, Use Election Tactics Full Time   14 years 6 months ago

Being that elections these days are bought or stolen this article is behind the times. In days of old it may have been true. What is the use of getting the general public to pressure their legislators since pressure from the public seems to have little or no effect on legislators, the president, or any other government officials.
On the other hand it may help the appearance of legitimacy when they egregiously ram incredibly foul policies and laws down our throats as they implement the police state of slave society. How are they going to keep all of us in control as they progressively make life tougher and tougher for Americans to cope with?
Using election season tactics like lying through the teeth, phony grass roots campaigns, and the propaganda power of national misinformation dissemination and fairy-tale public support will keep the media fat cats rolling in advertising cash.
Too bad so many good hearted people out there are too ignorant to see through all the PR and hype. Too bad it takes conscientious, thinking, concerned citizens to make democracy work. As long as the American public is willing to believe the fantasy that the media spoons out, our future as free men seems doomed.

No matter what their name is they are robber barons of the worst kind. Raping and pillaging for their self centered, greedy, despicable wants. What is most egregious is the fact that our government aided these filthy rich heathens with our hard earned tax dollars. At the same time they caused irreparable damage to our reputation and moral character as a nation. The blood of so many people on the hands of United Fruit, the C.I.A. and the many officials of the U.S. government who have played the same greedy games evidently has no affect on the conscious of our so called leaders of government or business. Names like Ronald Reagan, George Bush, Bill Clinton, George Bush and their henchmen and flunkies have continued the reprehensible methodologies for the rich to wallow in their wealth as the masses they rob die by the hundreds of thousands. When will we, as a species, realize the sickness that infects the few and finally fight them like the disease they are. We must rid society of these "special humans" before they destroy humanity' chances of survival on this planet. It is interesting to note that as bad as United Fruit and its owners are, the far worse player in all these scenarios is the media, whose manipulations and falsifications are at the root of most of the worlds problems.
