I find it interesting that some people I intuitively just CAN NOT STAND turn out to be corrupt. I have family in the part of the world so I had business there a few years ago. In fact, part of the reason that the Shared Values videos were not easy to find online is that they were intended as propaganda for foreign audiences and were not supposed to be used to influence domestic public opinion.
In the end, however, propaganda is such a one-way form of communication that the propagandists are really talking to themselves. They lose the ability to really listen to their audience, and as a result they don't know what to say to them either.
Sheldon, I'm sure it was you who told us that the target of war-time propaganda is usually the folks back home. Could that also be true in this case? If so, then the researchers were surveying the wrong people. The targets may have been American academics, op-ed writers and bloggers.
I have posted some of Mr. Dunklee's key points to remind many who would share information (and especially in our major media) what they should think through before commiting to air what they have been sent, no matter how attractive and/or innocuous.
