It's kind of funny that Michelle Rhee is for parent trigger laws. Her husband, Ken Johnson, is creating a charter high school in Sacramento, pretty much using a "trigger law", though it wasn't called that. In that same school district, there's Hiram Johnson High, which had low scores year after year. Eventually, they replaced the principal (3 years ago), had the bottom 200 kids go to other schools, had particular faculty removed, and asked other faculty to leave. So, did it help? Sure, removing the bottom 200 kids helped that school but HURT the school that they went to, C.K. McClatchy High. Those kids have to go somewhere. Those kids did NOT work harder at their new school. So, blaming anybody but the kids AND their parents is where the blame ought to go. PS One reason the scores were so low at Johnson was because HALF the kids would move away each year, playing "musical schools", and be replaced with an equal number also playing "musical schools". The parents of those kids were frequently unemployed and were kicked out of their housing so they had to move. It's folks like Michelle Rhee who are CLUELESS as to what the REAL problems are and they're just bureaucrats who think teaching is a Business.

Was the tzar of education, William Bennett, overpaid? Was the Heritage Foundation concerned about teaching science to our schoolchildren?

Just view this on the surface; Won't back down.... What would Tom Petty think of this? Then the title"Trigger"what does the NRA think about that?No gun left behind;as long as YOU set YOUR behind down in a Charter school. What would Roy Rodgers (no not the blues dude) but the sing'n cowboy think? This Won't back down-Trigger stuff is a heap of horse manure!

The stand your ground laws are supposed to demonstrate a give and take. There are more homicides possibly caused by this, but at the same time what impact does this have on overall crime and overall security of a state? We take necessary precautions like getting good locks, bolting our windows, and getting a big dog - but sometimes that's not enough. I think the most probable argument against this stance is that we shouldn't sacrifice human life no matter what - but then what about the wars we're waging in other countries? The victims of stand your ground laws are terrorists in our own country and we're interacting with them in the same fashion that we are with 'terrorists' in other countries. The security issues raised should definitely be weighed against the pros.

Published today, reported by Reuters, and even Fox News, that rats fed Monsanto corn got tumors, major organ failure, premature deaths in French big study. In spite of the "skepticism" spin on Fox's title (we have to be very afraid of Monsanto, right?), Fox reports the findings, as well as plenty of nebulous objections by Monsanto-troops. Strangely, CNN has kept silent on this major damaging-to-Monsanto story, shame on you CNN. The study tracked the rats through all of their 2-year lifespan, instead of the convenient 3-months America and Monsanto uses. It could not have come at a better time, now that Monsanto et al have spent millions of $$$ in California to not have to label GMO foods as such. America sadly has become the undignified country, where "Might is Right", and where Might=Money. No pride, no truth, no honesty, no morals, no ethics, just bribes and strong-arm tactics run this country, from government to business. The whole world can see it too.
