I am one of those "out of state union thugs", originally and proudly from Wisconsin. That term has been applied to Samuel Gompers, Eugene Debs, George Meany and others and if you would be so kind as to include me in that group I would be pleased. I am also one of the "slobs" that slept in the state capitol, "our house". Let me tell you a story Johnny. A group of people, lets call them "citizens", formed a state based upon the idea it was better to govern themselves and look out for their own self interests, to use the genius of their intellect and create a system where all who wanted could be educated and realizing that they, as a group, were only as grand as the least among them. Outside forces, let's call them the "others", with rich financial resources and wherewithal decided they could use their resources and throw away this idea and impose a system that would make them richer and more powerful. When the "citizens" heard about the "others" plans they raced to a prominent public building and occupied it. When other people, let's call them "supporters" from around the country heard about the "others" plan to impose their will on the "citizens" they raced to the public building as well. After several weeks of turmoil the others seemed to vanquish the citizens and their supporters, yet in their heightened emotional state they even turned upon some of their own. The desire to dominate was so strong the others could not stop themselves. What the others did not know was during the time they were focused on the citizens in front of them the rest of the nation woke up, attacked and decisively defeated the others. Now John, you may think I have described the recent events in Madsion and in broad strokes I have, but what I was really relating was an outline of Santa Anna's assault on the Alamo. John- Madison is your Alamo and I for one will not rest until Wisconsin, my Wisconsin, is restored. You and your kind have overreached and you will have to own it and years from now when you can't sleep you will think back on these days and in your heart, in that palce where only you go you will know what a fuckup Scott Walker was and how foolish you were to support him. Have a good life.
I'm sad at how clueless you are. Your last "note" made me embarrassed for you. You obviously have no idea what it's like to be a teacher. You have no idea what goes on in a classroom. Do you have any idea of what it's like to be a working individual? And what's this about teacher's being role models? I MUCH rather have my child look up to a teacher than Scott Walker. I'm surprised at your "majority has chosen a leader" statement. At one point, yes. The majority supported him. That was until he pulled out his anti-worker ideas. WHICH he kept secret from Wisconsin. How on earth can you justify all the illegal behavior that the Republicans are pulling? I use to consider myself a Republican, but I don't think I'll ever be able to vote Republican again. I lost all trust I had for my party.
Anyway, I hope you come to an important realization that Weasel Walker and his cronies are just trying to fill their own pockets. Oh wait. You probably won't because NO ONE can be as straight-up-stupid as you are, without being paid, bribed, or quite possibly a bot that spews out craaaaap.
I love you, Wisconsin. We'll win in the end.. we just can't give up!
John Boehner;
Where are the JOBS @ GOP?¿?
So PROUD to finally see the hard-working, GOOD PEOPLE of WISCONSIN carrying on that grand tradition that has been ALL OF OURS history, when it comes to workers and the peoples rights!
I am just so proud to see so many come to the "front line" to perhaps be the re-start to thinking about the working class instead of slowly being stepped on by corporate thugs and these politicians who want us all to not only "pay the piper" but who also just are starting (yes, sadly this is just their start) in leading us all spiralling down that road to eventual "corporate ownership" along with all our rights.
This is just the start to a fight we will win, especially as it dawns on more and more John Q Public's that this is really about an agenda that will have consequences far into all of our futures if we don't stop it here and now - dead in it tracks - and see to it that we run to our polls and vote (while we still can) and fight against what is truthfully a certain type of "mean-spirited" ideology where it truly is "what's mine is mine, and I still want yours" where the only people who have any right to say who has rights are those who are in power - and as you can see will freely trample the rights of many just so long as they come out the winner every time.
I truly can't say thank you enough to those who are now fighting back. It's in my eyes a true saving grace for all of us - to see and be inspired again by what I hope continues to be "truly hearing the people's voice start to come alive again - and again in Wisconsin. Labor and LaFollette and forward!
Being from Wisconsin, I have recently become aware that Angel Soft tissue is one of the many brands owned by the nasty Koch family. We are boycotting their products because they are attempting to buy our state, including our resources, as well as our democracy. Thanks for all the good points you make in your comment!
