They are simply playing the game that the gov't has created. If they didn't accept/benefit from those subsidies, other companies would, and Koch Industries would be at a disadvantage. There's a lot to be said that they are advocating for these subsidies to be destroyed, even though they benefit from them. Other companies are lobbying _for_ subsidies while Koch lobbies _against_ them. They're doing a lot to further economic freedom, and people should stop believing all they hear in the media and do some research on their own.
I'm very happy that all of this is being documented, thank you to those who put their time and energy into maintaining this website and watchdogging these hate groups. I see the undermining of progress towards a people's democracy as the scarriest type of internal terrorism in the world today. It's diseased, divided and demented (sociopathic) reasoning for pushing this agenda is based in fear and dominance (the same kind that has been used among many religious institutions to control people for economic and political gain) is far more cancerous and deadly to all the goodness/godness that is left in the world than terrorists blowing up bombs or shooting bullets aimlessly toward the same end goal, but they are a great scapegoat to use, manipulate and then focus on in corporate media to distract us from what is really happening, it's ingenious and seriously disturbing. Meanwhile the true deadly cancer spreads in the U.S. among the land, within the new laws created to dominate, rape and destroy natural systems that sustain life and poison young minds for political and most importantly, economic dominance. The use of division (taking sides as though we are rooting for a football team) to ensure distrust of the 'other' based on differences like ethnicity, economic status, sexual orientation, disability and sex/gender..... is similar but even more calculated then Hitler's insane massacre of Jews, Gay people, sympathizers and those with disabilities and anyone else who didn't fit the white, pseudo-christian, patriarchal supporting definition of "supreme"...we must watch carefully or we too will become the massacred...and we must speak up now before it's too late.
When solar constitutes only a very small fraction of one percent of electricity, and is generated at times of peak demand - why are utilities and Koch's so opposed. The regulatory and legislative actions they pursue are to increase the fixed monthly charge (so no "free riders") and keep the cost per KWH of power consumed low. The real reason for this is that electricity use in the US has plateaued because of conservation and efficiency. If the cost per KWH hour is small then not only is the solar industry damaged but much more importantly the economic reasons for conservation disappears and use rises along with dividends and bonuses. Solar is the whipping boy. Conservation is the real issue for ALEC. Pay no attention to the man behind the curtain.!
