Wednesday, October 28, 2009, in Brooklyn, New York, the Center for Media and Democracy's Wendell Potter will be honored for his work highlighting insurance business practices and spin by Guernica magazine, which Harvard historian Howard Zinn called an “extraordinary bouquet of stories, poems, social commentary, and art.” Guernica has previously featured heads of state, Nobel Prize winners, literary stalwarts, lawmakers, filmmakers, salsa gods, and cabinet members—Costa Rican President Oscar Arias Sánchez, Joan Didion, filmmakers Sally Potter and Cherien Dabis, Oscar Hernandez of the Spanish Harlem Orchestra, Samantha Power, Tony Kushner, Don DeLillo, Mia Farrow, Ha Jin, poet John Ashbery, Luis Moreno-Ocampo, Congresswoman Carolyn Maloney, and Jonathan Safran Foer.
