"It's amazing how far the reputation of electronic voting [3] has fallen," writes Center for Media and Democracy researcher Diane Farsetta. On November 9, 2000, one company bragged, "If Florida had used an e-voting system, we'd know the winner already." But over the past few years, as "expert critiques of and troubling incidents with e-voting systems multiplied to the point of attracting major media attention," the multi-industry group Information Technology Association of America [4] "urged e-voting companies to unite under a public relations banner [5]."
