- 7:30 pm, Pres House chapel: Public talk by Lappé, titled, Democracy's Edge: From the Dinner Table to the Front Page. $5 donation at the door. Lappé will also sign copies of her new book, Democracy's Edge: Choosing To Save Our Country By Bringing Democracy to Life. (No RSVP is needed if you are just attending the public talk and not the reception.)

In keeping with Lappé's life-long focus on food and the roots of democracy, these events benefit two Madison-based non-profit groups:
- Family Farm Defenders works to create a farmer-controlled and consumer-oriented food system, and to support economic and social justice for farmers.
- The Center for Media and Democracy is the only U.S. organization dedicated to investigating and exposing deceptive public relations and propaganda campaigns, and to strengthening public interest reporting.
