Citizens United Amendment https://www.prwatch.org/news/2011/04/10686/colvin-comparing-constitutional-amendments-proposed-after-citizens-united Comment left on PR Watch: Sub: Needed Focus I very much appreciate your contribution of thought and knowledge on the whole Citizens United issue. As a lay person, is it clear from your site that formulating the necessary language for a national amendment is not a trivial matter. The table you provide has given me a much better understanding of some of the issues that have to be examined before an amendment can be presented to the U.S. Congress and/or the state governments. I would also be most interested in your recommendations as a funding focal point: MoveOn, Common Cause, Public Citizen, PR Watch, etc., because such an effort will only prevail over the "long haul," with many state and national twists and turns, requiring substantial funding. Even some of the most ardent congress-people may well have exited the public scene, yet the fight must go on. However, I am rather bothered, that on entry to only your site, I am invaded with many (7-8) LSOs (flash cookies, usually un-removable), on my browser which are intended to target my browser queries, and be available to my subsequent searches. I hope your IT folks can relieve my concerns in this area. Please continue your efforts in this direction. America needs you. Sincerely, Robert G. Lear

It is well known that as a social trend, a successful protest of undetermined length must have 1. a focal complaint with offered resolution 2. leadership 3. and constant communication among all parties. It would seem that 99% of the people are angry at the 1% who caused the global meltdown. (Keeping in mind that the 99% is not entirely innocent as easy money is easy to spend.) This is the focal complaint The resolution would be, as I see it, that our current leadership take action with the responsible parties with visible and tangible results. Politics and money are perpetual bedmates. A candidate is not going to "bite the hand" that feeds him. But there is power in numbers. As an active participant during the Nam protests I know it pays to perpetuate the anger.

For more on the right to food, see Anna Lappé's [http://www.thenation.com/article/163390/who-says-food-human-right interview] with the current UN Special Rapporteur on the right to food, Olivier De Schutter, in the October 3, 2011 issue of The Nation.

Please don't paint all politicians with the same tarnished brush. I know many politicians who are doing everything they can to improve our lives and protect or rights. Bernie Sanders and Paul Wellstone jump to the forefront. Many, many more are quietly trying to work on the behalf of the public good. We need to support politicians who are doing the right thing and get rid of those who are not. But, I fundamentally believe in Democracy. The antidote to corruption, is participation.
