First of all, unlike the Wisconsin "Reporter," CMD discloses all of the major foundation support it has received in the past and currently. It's readily available on our website. Our funders had no role in our decision to investigate the Wisconsin "Reporter."
Second, we do not share almost all of the same major donors as the Wisconsin Center, as is apparent from published information from both sites. We do have a grant from OSI which is for specific research on national security and civil liberties based on my expertise in that policy area, which is wholly unrelated to the machinations of the Wisconsin "Reporter." I am certain the Wisconsin Center's grant does not relate to the substantive issues related to homeland security issues and analysis, as that is not part of their expertise.
Third, we don't consider the Wisconsin "Reporter" to be the Wisconsin Center's "main competitor." And, even if in some universe it were, we don't work for the Wisconsin Center, and we did not work with them on this story. We are not concerned about who their so-called competitors are.
The research into the Wisconsin Reporter stands on its own and we stand by our report.
Have you asked the Wisconsin "Reporter" to disclose its major donors? Are you affiliated with that entity or its associated groups or funders?
