What about the fact that some of the "organic" 365 products that wholefoods sells are actually produced in china? Even their "California blend" vegetables are produced in china. Go ahead and take a look.

Other than bullying and buying off farms and farmers, what's important to remember here is that Monsanto genetically modifies their seeds so their pesticide "RoundUp" is effective. It is not effective on non-GMO seeds and other pesticides do not work on the Monsanto seeds. When a crop gets contaminated, they have no choice but to use Monsanto's RoundUp. It becomes a nasty catch 22 that leaves farmers in a bind making decisions they don't necessarily approve of, but really have no choice if they want to continue farming.

And, about those GMO'd foods...doesn't it give you the creeps that conventional tomatoes are genetically modified to include scorpion DNA? This was done to make the fruit more shelf stable and resilient to bugs and bruising during shipping and while on the grocery floor. It's true, what a blessing to have our produce last longer, less wasted money and product. A Sta-Fresh tomato that doesn't rot 3-4 weeks after harvest, however, is a bit unnerving. If you argue that GMO'd foods don't have an effect on us humans and our planet, there are countless ways to counter that opinion. The least of which is hydrogenated oils! Remember when Crisco was every bakers dream? It's not GMO'd (or is it??) but we all know now how awful it is for our bodies, arteries and hearts. It takes about 50 years for researchers to have those results. Hopefully, with the rapid advancement of technology, we'll come to these conclusions faster.

Hip Hip Hooray for the bullying Monsanto Monster? No way.
How do you feel about Soylent Green? It's not too far fetched...

What Tim Reale said was perfect, but I felt the need to also mention the environmental effects. Just because we do it "far from any populated areas" and rely on bottled water doesn't mean there aren't negative effects. Doing it far from populated areas doesn't keep fracking from depleting natural aquifers. In addition, most recovered fracking fluids are never filtered back to pure water... instead, they're diluted down and put back into the streams and waterways. This means that over time, recovered fracking fluid will make it's way through the waterways back to a populated area, where it will enter the public water supply in trace amounts. If it does go all the way to the ocean, it stops there, which means continued fracking will have a long term effect on that ecosystem. In addition to these direct effects of fracking, relying on bottled water is a ridiculous solution. Do a quick search for "bottled water environmental effects". It's also worth pointing out that most bottled water is really just partly filtered water bottled close to the point where it is sold. This means you aren't avoiding the problem at all.

    Spelling, how does it work?

Although I did laugh my ass off at Hippocrates, the Greek doctor. I'm assuming you meant hypocrites.

No...the reason organic is so expensive, because it is so labor intense to raise animals/crops with no medicine or chemicals is absolutely ridiculous! Especially, since it has never been proven by a non bias scientific research that GMO products have ever hurt anyone!
