I had to fight my former union (SEIU 1000) all the way to the Supreme Court of the U. S. in order for me to keep my own money that I earned and had requested, in writing, not be taken from my paycheck. Thankfully we won the right to keep our own money, no thanks to the union.
I, and others, were twice offered $5,000.00 to drop the lawsuit. Then the union tried to make the whole thing go away by making the point moot in front of the court. Neither of the prior two attempts succeeded.
My thinking is that if the union has such a great message, i. e., its product it sells, then it should have little or no trouble collecting dues for any purpose. If the union message is meaningless, as my example above shows, then let the chips fall where they may.

November is Lung Cancer Awareness Month. Our color is white, like death. I'm dying of it but can't seem to find even a koozie with a white ribbon on it. God bless all Cancer victims but if I see anymore Corporate pink I'm gonna scream at the top of whats left of my lungs! So thankful to read this article. It's becoming the Elephant in the room and nobody has the guts to say it out loud.
