  • Reply to: The Gospel of Citizens United: In Hobby Lobby, Corporations Pray for the Right to Deny Workers Contraception   10 years 2 months ago
An employee who works 40 hours a week in exchange for a pay check and a healthcare plan is paying for her insurance with her labor. Why should her employer's "personal choices" have anything to do with what it covers? Hobby Lobby isn't making a personal choice. Corporations don't take birth control, PEOPLE DO. The personal choice is to take it or not to take it. Limiting access for others is not a personal choice.

The spying is not so much about national security - that's why we have 16 other spying agencies. The NSA spying is a service intended to control the citizens, just as Orwell had predicted. For example: getting a job with a decent salary may become hard to get if/when corporations can find about one's secrets which they WILL use to play to win the hiring game. The policing agencies, the ultimate steroid-driven alpha bros, will use your secrets to spy on those around you, then, of course, to betray you. And on, ad infinitum. That's why Mr. Snowden is a hero of epic proportions. The attacks on American soil will stop when the US will remove its 1000+ miitary bases, end its inept meddling in the affairs of others, return the troops home and have them learn to defend the American soil from the home base.

Sponsorships are solicited through the NCSL Foundation, which counts access to policy makers among its advertised benefits: http://www.ncsl.org/aboutus/ncsl-foundation-for-state-legislatures/benefits.aspx

I was charged $95 by Loyola University Medical Center, outpatient clinic in Oakbrook Terrace, IL to sit in an exam room and talk to the doctor!!!!!! I didn't even sit on the exam table! The doctor billed me for his time which I have no problem with however $95 to sit down!!! When I called to question the charge I was told it was for the use of the room and the supplies in the room. I told billing that all I did was sit in the chair and talk to the DR. their only response was "you should have gotten a letter we sent to patients last September,2013 telling you we were going to start charging for this!" Next they will be billing to sit in the waiting room!!! I THINK A CHARGE LIKE THIS IS MORALLY WRONG AND AMOUNTS TO NOTHING MORE THAT ROBBERY! LOYOLA SHOULD BE ASHAMED OF THEMSELVES!
