It's interesting that you should start the article with this because for the past 5 years or so I have felt it was teachers they were after and I have often talked about it to fellow educators. I personally did not feel much support from anyone during this time. I don't like to prescribe to conspiracy theories but I have felt like most of us teachers are at least average intelligence and able to put two and two together and that's why I felt all this accountability and untold amounts of paperwork, high stakes testing etc. etc. was to keep us busy so we wouldn't notice what they were up to.
I will stand by the unions and I have already been at one demonstration here in NM. I am not going to allow them to do to unions what they have done to educators. Enough is enough.
Crossroads GPS funding is secret. It is not public information. You would be providing a great service to the voting public if you can identify any of their funders.
The misleading part is (1) the statistics the ad uses are completely wrong, and were even denounced as misleading by the conservative think tank that produced them, (2) the ad says union dues are mandatory for political activity, when in fact that is illegal, and (3) the out-of-context speech makes it sound like Chanin is saying teacher's unions don't care about kids, and only care about dues, when that is not what he was saying at all.
Per your request, here is the link to Chanin's full speech:

It's important to remember that Fox content is not news, though many people think that it is and they present it as such.
