Thanks for all you do, Mr. Potter. We met briefly at your last stop in Denver. I was the Medical Director for Aetna HealthPlans of Colorado from 1994-7. At that time Aetna merged with US HealthCare, and Aetna had a culture shift requiring anyone with a sense of what is good for patients and doctors had to leave, which I did. Now I am convinced that the entire private insurance industry must go. They are still not only alive, but doing extremely well, thank you.
I look forward to your appearance at the Colorado Health Care Day of Action later this month. I'll stop by to say hello. Please keep up the good fight. Eventually the U.S. will do the right thing, after we've tried everything else.

Hey everybody: It is obvious that many people here are believing what they're reading without checking on it. I'm not taking sides on this Whole Foods thing one way or another,by the way, until I do some more research. I AM against GMOs. I am an environmental studies student in Portland and if there is one thing I've learned, not only in school but in my 40 years of life, is that you can never--NEVER--trust just one or two sources. If you really want to have an informed opinion, keep quiet until you have actually checked the sources and explored the various sides of an issue. Ask questions. Get media savvy. It's a war out here, and the best defense we have is to be well informed.
To those who complain that Whole Foods should have stood up for a ban but accepted the "two options" that the USDA put on the table: did you rally your troops and lobby Whole Foods? Do a letter-writing or call-in campaign? Maybe you did, and you have a right to be disappointed. But if you didn't, you jumped into the game a little late to complain now. If you really care about this issue, get informed and get involved.
Here's a link to another crowd size estimate which seems right to me. The author, a scientist at the UW Madison Geology Museum, appears to have researched relevant literature on crowd size estimating and shows his math.
PolitiFact is hardly a comprehensive review of all of the claims made by the group. That's actually one of the main flaws with the site across the board. Just look at Dick Cheney's page--in ratings on just five random claims a reader would have a completely distorted picture that suggests he mostly tells the truth when he has helped hatch and repeat major lies that have led to the deaths of thousands of people, through the propaganda that led the march to war in Iraq.
As for the two claims actually rated by PF, even a stopped clock is right two times a day.
The larger point is that readers ought to know who Maciver is.

...This one seems to repeat the customary cycle of warnings voiced and ignored before the fact...
