ALSO,
I hope that you realize that only approximately 20% of the natural gas in this country is currently coming from the Marcellus Shale, where fracking is used. The other 80% comes from sources that do not have any significant detrimental environmental impact. Moreover, with the process of biomethane, natural gas can actually be created from landfills, making it an entirely RENEWABLE resource in an entirely environmentally friendly method.
The issues are really getting clouded in this article. Fracking is a problem, yes, Natural Gas as a whole is NOT the problem.
This article is over-simplifying an issue by focusing entirely on a small percentage of natural gas extraction to blame the entire resource, which is, in reality, clean, abundant, and an entirely domestic resource that could FINALLY eliminate the United State's dependence on foreign oil.
Natural Gas is an environmentally friendly alternative fuel!!!
The fact that the initial fracking process used for a newly discovered source of domestic natural gas, i.e. the Marcellus Shale, has proven to be problematic should NOT deter from all of the other positive environmental benefits of natural gas. Again, fracking accounts for 20% of natural gas extraction.
We should be arguing for better technology so natural gas can be extracted from the Marcellus Shale without contaminating ground water, NOT that we shouldn't be using natural gas
This article is extremely, extremely short-sighted
Yeah, I get it, I've seen Gasland too. I'm not for contaminating ground water. Who in their right mind would be.
Neither is T Boone, Chesapeake, NGV America, and the rest.
But what they know, that I know is that Natural Gas is an extremely clean fuel with significant greenhouse gas reduction, and that it is an entirely domestic fuel that can get us out of the stranglehold that OPEC has on this country.
You know how much oil we have in the Federal Reserve? Approximately 2 weeks worth. Does that scare you? It should
The accusation that everyone lobbying for this bill is trying to "fatten their wallets at the expense of the environment" is extremely offensive and also just flat out DEAD WRONG
You need to do more research on a topic before sensationalizing an issue this way, I'm sorry, but you do
How can one get a list of the legislators who attended the ALEC conference in New Orleans, so we can follow the actions and bills of our own state legislators?
Demanding a photo id of OLDER Folks, especially older black folks, is very intimidating. It is also stupid. SOOOO you tell a Senior Citizen who has lived in the same are for 30-40 years, who may even know some of the people working at the polls, that they cannot vote without an id. Just imagine someone at the polls WHO KNOWS the Senior being forced to tell them that. Intimidating and insulting. The same thing can be said about younger folks who have lived all their lives in a given area, too. The only thing that people should have to present is a utility or tax bill showing their name and address. Those things everyone has. There should be no intimidation at the polls. Voting is a RIGHT, not a priviledge.
