In trying to improve tyrants’ images and reputations, these firms are damaging America’s international reputation. And with the S&P downgrade, the U.S. can ill afford another reputational hit."
She talks about ethics and makes some good points, but image-polishing for tyrants commensurate with a dented credit rating as a "reputational hit" to America? Hmm.
Ron Paul specifically said that corporations are not people.

But then Ron Paul is pretty much GOP in name only.
if the four companies had bid for contracts in each of Floridas counties and from what i understand is that the sole company of the four came in the lowest bidder in every county...!!! come on..!! that is impossible unless the DMS gave bid information to the sole company that the state of Florida picked for its employees..
Though on the national scene holding the economy hostage maybe new, here in California it has been going on for decades. Our ALEC controlled legislature delivers the massive corporate tax breaks while cutting every service and balancing the budget on the backs of the middle class. How is this possible you ask when we have more than 60% progressives in our legislature? Simple anything to do with money needs a 67% approval and ALEC has a hammer lock on the 34% 'ers. And yes, the budgets we pass don't reflect the electorate.
Wisconsin rocks! Like Mary Botari said in the article Wisconsin is now, after all your hard work, just one vote away, so it is easier for good things to happen. Anytime we tried the recall approach in CA, we never made your headway.
The billionaire caucus was poised to say your win wasn't, but they know better. They hoped that the foot dragging they did would buy the time they needed to help the middle class forget that ALEC is picking their pockets. It is clear to me that the Badger State is not amused and is seeing through big money's subterfuge. This too will spread like wildfire just as the Wisconsin marches kick us all into action. Though the GOP leadership puts on a brave face, they know their sheik just isn't selling like it did and you did this.
Thank you Wisconsin. You rock!

Here's an interesting go at saving the reputation of reputation-saving, from the chair and CEO of the Public Relations Society of America. This quote stands out:
She talks about ethics and makes some good points, but image-polishing for tyrants commensurate with a dented credit rating as a "reputational hit" to America? Hmm.
