"Pfizer Inc. [3] has revealed it completed a study four years ago that links its painkiller Celebrex to a 'statistically significant' increase in heart problems," reports the Boston Globe. When a December 2004 National Cancer Institute [4] study found an increased risk of heart problems, Pfizer called the results "unexpected." A month later, Pfizer quietly published its own 1999 study, on the website of the industry-funded [5] group Pharmaceutical Research and Manufacturers of America [6]. In other news [7], the SUV Owners of America [8] are protesting a campaign to promote SUV safety. Stratacomm [9] founder and SUVOA spokesperson Ron Defore said the campaign "perpetuates the myth that the largest of the SUV's are somehow these very dangerous vehicles."
